Aims 

In support of the forthcoming European Commission Strategy on Mental Health, and building on the mental health promotion and mental disorder prevention components of the WHO Declaration and Action Plan for Mental Health, areas addressed by the conference will include:

• Evidence to practice for policies and programmes: outlining the most recent advances to support mental health policies and programmes at the local, national and European levels;

• Implementation: helping develop dissemination, implementation and management plans;

• Financing: supporting strategies for financing action and strengthening management systems across Europe;

• Building capacity and training: strengthening policy and advocacy development, and networking.

The conference will be action oriented and highly participatory, being structured around a large number of working sessions and discussion panels. A few plenary sessions will introduce each of the main themes. The conference aims to share examples, barriers and opportunities encountered throughout Europe in implementing prevention and promotion action for mental health. The outcomes of the conference will include a set of recommendations and suggested proposals to support implementation of action for mental health promotion and mental disorder prevention across Europe.

The Future of the Nordic Welfare Model, The 18th Nordic Conference in Social Medicine and Public Health will be organised as a pre-conference for the 2007 EUPHA conference (European Public Health Association).

Annual meeting for National Coordinators of the ENHPS.

The first day of the meeting will focus on HP in Schools from three perspectives: the school policy, the public health policy and the state of the art perspective.
The second day of the meeting will be the 14th ENHPS Business Meeting which will focus on the future of the ENHPS as SHE network.

This conference aims to provide participants with new ways of thinking about promotion of the health and well-being of children and young people. Themes and topics to be addressed include: alcohol use, bullying, sexual health, physical activity, obesity and healthy lifestyles and mental health and wellbeing.

The Conference will be attended by high-level representatives from the European Parliament, the Council Presidency and Member State Governments. Also expected are organisations and leaders from relevant sectors such as health, education, employment, social affairs as well as from civil society. The conference is expected to establish a European Pact for Mental Health. Participation in the event is on invitation only.

The 5th International Conference of the International Society for Equity in Health will be hosted by the Greek School of Public Health in Crete. The meeting will bring together, researchers, policy-makers, practitioners and others concerned with equity in health to develop an international health agenda for governments, universities and organizations all over the world.

The Conference will explore the theme: Social and Societal Influences on Equity in Health  through a varied program of plenary sessions, forums, poster sessions and scientific sessions.

An event not to be missed! The 3^rd European Conference on Health Promoting Schools acts as a European forum to invest in school health promotion and is meant for policy makers, researchers and practitioners. There will be active participation of children and young people. The deadline for submitting abstracts is 31 March 2009.

The two day conference on Youth and Health, organised by the European Commission in cooperation with the European Youth Forum and other youth organisations will be opened by Commissioner for Health, Androulla Vassiliou, on 9 July in Brussels.

About 400 people are expected to attend. This includes young people from across Europe, representatives from youth organisations, health professionals working with and for young people and national and EU Institutions.

The conference aims primarily to listen to young people and to involve them in the decision making process about their health. It also aims at generating commitment from stakeholders to improve the health of young people.

The Role of Health Promotion in the Transition of the Nordic Welfare States. The contemporary world is in a constant process of ideological and political changes which affect people's health. The theme of the conference reflects the current different aspects of transition in health promotion, for example: 
 - the transition from public to private services
 - transition in the health panorama
 - transition at local as well as at national level.

During the 4th International School Health Meeting in Portugal the 20th anniversary of the Rights of the Child Convention will be commemorated. There will be debates and scientific news in different fields of knowledge, which may help children to grow up responsible and self-reliant, to be able to live well with themselves others and the surrounding environment.

The deadline for the submission of abstracts is 3 September 2009.

NIGZ received funding from the EU for an operating grant for the SHE network. Part of the operating grant is the organisation of the first SHE Summer School in 2010. The objective is to design and to deliver a summer school for the main SHE stakeholders. Another part of the work is to evaluate the work carried out under the operating grant SHE 2010, both on process and on impact. Deadline for submitting tender proposals is 12 February at 12.00 A.M.

EuroHealthNet in Brussels is organising a 'Promoting Health & Equity Week', throughout which the topics of health promotion and health inequalities will be discussed. The General Assembly 2010 will also take place on 23 March, 09.00-17.00. This is the annual business meeting for EuroHealthNet members and partners. Items on the agenda are: the strategic development plan 2010-2014, the annual work programme (2010-2011) and election of a new board.

School Health Promotion in Europe: theory, research and Practice Summer School, 20-24 September 2010.

This course will provide a unique opportunity to critically discuss the latest theoretical perspective, research findings and dilemma from practice in an internation learning environment, with the input of top researchers and practitioners from the field.
Target audience: a wide range of practitioners and professionals: academics/researchers/PHD students (school health promotion or education) as well as professionals (health, education, physical activity/sport, voluntary sector etc. Maximum participants: 30.
